Dane Stephen Turnmeyer, 13, of Panama City, Florida, transcended from life temporal into life eternal on Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was born in Valdosta on March 21, 2003 and his family and friends were blessed with the miracle of his life for 13 years. He had attended Pine Grove Elementary School and was currently attending North Bay Haven Charter Academy Middle School where he is an active member of the Swim and Golf Teams. He is a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and Northstar Church.
He is survived by: his father, Stephen Jon Turnmeyer and his wife, Amy Mason Turnmeyer, of Valdosta; his mother, Tamara Schmidt Turnmeyer, and his sister, Marislynn Klaire Turnmeyer, both of Panama City, FL; his half-brother, Kurtis Michael Schmidt, and his step brother, Mason Ross Thompson, both of Valdosta; his grandparents, Richard J. Turnmeyer Sr. and his wife, Gail Turnmeyer, of South Carolina; Elly P. Lare and her husband, Michael Lare, of Melbourne, Fl.; Robert and Kathy Schmidt, of Panama City, FL,; George and Jean Mason, of Valdosta; his greatgrandmother, Jacqueline Kelly Anderson of Valdosta; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
For his family and freinds in Panama City, Fl: a service will be held on Friday, September 9, at 3:30 p.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church, with a visitation on Thursday, September 8, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. His family in Valdosta will hold a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall/Contemporary Service Chapel of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. They will receive friends from 5:30 until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Dane Turnmeyer Fund at Commercial Banking Company. These funds will be used by the family to help with the medical and funeral expenses. Carson McLane Funeral Home is assisting his Valdosta family.
