Damon Raines Stone

Damon Raines "Bill" Stone, Sr., 71, of Hahira, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Smith Northview Hospital. He was born on January 8, 1938 in Nashville, GA to the late Benjamin Riley and Novella Sturdevant Stone. Mr. Stone was retired from the United States Navy and attended the Hahira Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Stone, one son and daughter in law, Damon (Chip) Jr. and Helen Stone, two grandsons, Richard R. Stone and Quillian R. Stone, all of Hahira, one brother, Dewayne Stone of Jacksonville, FL and one sister, Madeline Dillard of Thomasville. Mr. Stone is preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Darlene Stone and one brother, Chastain Stone.

Graveside memorial services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2009 at five p. m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Cook County with Reverend Leonard Harnage officiating. Burial will follow. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Bethany Hospice, 2517 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, GA or to the Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
