Curtis Lamar Watson, Sr. 56, of Naylor died Saturday, April 12, 2008 as a result of an accidental drowning while fishing in Lake Alapaha. He was born on May 11, 1951 in Fitzgerald to the late Curtis Jackson and Dorothy Lee Whatley Watson and had lived in Fitzgerald and Nashville before moving to Lowndes County ten years ago. Mr. Watson was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and was currently a transfer officer with the Valdosta State Prison. He was a member of the Benevolent Police Association. Mr. Watson enjoyed fishing, cooking and playing with his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hunter Warren Watson of Naylor, daughters and sons in law, Dee Dee Watson Baker and Brian Baker of Jacksonville, Fla., Michelle and Phil Fausett of Adel, Christi Melinda and Greg Tomlinson of Sparks, son and daughter in law, Curtis Lamar (Curt), Jr. and Amanda Watson of St. Mary's and formerly of Nashville, six grandchildren, Jessa Brooks, Josh Brooks, Jordan Baker, Chloe Baker, Brayden Watson and Garrison Tomlinson, sister and brother in law, Ann and Ellis Kitchens of Stockbridge and two special pets, Belle and Cricket.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Stevens and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Echols County. Pallbearers will be Richard Kline, George Copeland, Charles Rhym, Joe Alls, Earl Sharpe and Robert Cole.
