Curtis Hammond, Sr.

January 12, 1955 — January 27, 2009

CURTIS HAMMOND, SR., 54, of Valdosta, went home to be with his Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. He was born on January 12, 1955 in Dallas, TX, a son of James Dewey and Edna Earl Graham Hammond.

Curtis was employed as a truck driver for Southeast Milk, until an accident caused his disability. He was member of the Harvest Church of God, Clyattville. He touched many lives and ministered to all who knew him in his special way. Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother and always provided for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, and best friend of 18 years, Trish Hammond, Valdosta; their nine children, Curtis Hammond, Jr. and wife Kim of Stockton, Ruth Ann Hammond and husband Gary of Whitney, TX, James Hammond of Conroe, TX, Janice Stout and husband Michael of Whitney, TX, Billy Day and wife Shanna of Valdosta, Crystal Stratton and husband Jacob of Lake Park, Amanda Lewis and husband James of Valdosta, Winter Boyette and husband Steven of Naylor, and Michael Densmore and wife Natasha of Valdosta; 40 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his mother of Whitney, TX; two brothers, Bill and Gary Hammond of Whitney, TX; two sisters, Brenda Boehl of Conroe, TX, and Kathy Denney of Douglas; many nieces and nephews; special brothers in Christ, Rick Denney of Lake Park, Ray Clowdus of TX, Charles Modgling of Irving, TX, and Pat Chewning of Live Oak, FL; special Pastors, Ronnie Robinson of TX, and George Ehling of Statenville; and many more brothers and sisters in Christ and friends to numerous to mention. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Hammond, a grandson, Justin Hammond, his father, and a brother, Steven Hammond.

Services will be held at 2 pm Thursday (today), January 29, 2009, at Harvest Church of God. Burial will take place in Bethlehem Cemetery, Whitney, TX.
