CURTIS H. SIMS, SR., 80, of Dasher, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at his home.
He was born January 30, 1930 in Valdosta. Mr. Sims had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1951. He was a member of Dasher Church of Christ, and had retired from Packaging Corp. of America after forty-four years of service.
In addition to his wife of forty-five years, Helen McLane Sims of Dasher, he is survived by three sons, John Olan Sims of Clyattville, Andy and wife Tammi Sims of Lake Park, and William Sims of Dasher; two granddaughters, Brooke Sims and Taylor Sims of Lake Park; one grandson, Shayne Williams of Lee, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Orie Bennett and Ruth Sims of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Curtis (Hinkey) Sims, Jr.; and a sister, Susie Marie Hiers.
Memorial Services for Mr. Sims will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the Dasher Church of Christ, with Mr. David Nelson. The Sims' family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta.
