Corrine F. Oliver Davis, 89, of Valdosta died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Crestwood Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born on May 7, 1921 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Mark and Bessie Mae Robinson Walker and has been a resident of this area for more than 40 years. She retired as a switchboard operator at South Georgia Medical Center. Upon retirement, she continued to serve others by joining the Pink Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jo and Benny Cox of Valdosta; a grandson and spouse, Mark and Stephanie Daughtrey of Valdosta; five great grandchildren, Megan and Amber Daughtrey, Derrick and Jeffery Buchan, and Leslie Slaughter; five great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mattie Lou Barnes of Gadsden, Alabama; a brother, Morris Webb of San Francisco, California; a lifelong family friend, Rosa Jackson of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.T. Oliver and Lester Davis; a daughter, Brenda Jean Hopper and a granddaughter, Veronica Diane McCastle.
Services for Corrine Davis will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
