Corine Simpson Stone, 91, of Hahira and beloved wife of the late Arthur C. Stone, Sr. for thirty six years died Friday, March 16, 2012 at home after a brief illness. She was born in Brooks County on December 29, 1920 to the late Walter and Marion Folsom Simpson. Mrs. Stone was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured time spent with her family and friends. Mrs. Stone was a homemaker, attended Hahira High School and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Arthur C. Stone, Jr. and his wife Doris, Walter C. Stone and his wife, Paula, all of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Angie Stone, Gina Stone, Benny Harper, Walt Stone (Michelle) and Will Stone (Kayla), three great grandchildren, Logan Stone, Lindsey Stone and Lela Stone, two sisters, Marie Webb Phelps and Laura Newman, both of Valdosta, one brother and sister in law, Norman and Dorothy Simpson of Valdosta, sister in law, Irene C. Simpson of Omaha, NE and special friend and nurse, Monica Gay and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Stone is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Stone, Sr., one brother, Charlene (Pete) Simpson and one sister, Dorothy Simpson Holton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at eleven a. m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes and Dr. Tom Studstill officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from four until six p. m. Sunday at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.
