Coretha Coody Roark Wisenbaker, 88, of Lowndes County died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Lowndes County on September 9, 1923 to the late Frank and Ella Adams Coody. Mrs. Wisenbaker was retired. The last work she did was as a sitter to care for the elderly. She was a member of the Redland Church of Christ.
Survivors include her sons, Everett Price Roark, Jr. and wife Carolyn, Gordon Louis Wisenbaker and Edwin Lyle Wisenbaker; grandchildren, Brittany Richardson, Marra Wolf, Everett Roark, III, Jeff Roark, Mark Roark, Kim Hunter, Roger Smith; great grandchildren, Leo, Lucan, Chloe, Everett IV, Austin, Jillian, Shane, Warren, Brandi, Dana, Roger, Jr., Conner, Frankie, Chelsey, Mindy and also three great great grandchildren. Other survivors are a sister, Doris Lott and a brother, Louis Coody; brothers in law and sisters in law, Harold Wisenbaker, Marian and Frank Johnson, Douglas and Goldie Wisenbaker, Delita and Bruce Barwick; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wisenbaker was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Price Roark, Sr. and Bobby Louis Wisenbaker; sons, Johnny Roark, Jerrold Roark and Alton Wisenbaker, daughter in law, wife of Gordon, Brenda Hunt Wisenbaker, her brothers, Lonnie and Will and her sisters, Lelia Mae, Bertie Mae and Gollie Belle.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Redland Church of Christ Cemetery. Mr. Bruce Barwick, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
