CORDIE CULPEPPER REGISTER, 97, of Echols County died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House after a period of declining health. She was born in Echols County on August 3, 1911 to the late Isaac and Nan Browning Culpepper. Mrs. Register was the oldest living resident in Echols County at the time of her death. She was a member of the Bethel Church of God where she had served as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Treasurer.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and John Courson of Valdosta, Nannie Beth Sims Lawson and Howard Lawson of Morven; Maxine and William Carter; Mary Lou and Charlie Carter; son and daughter-in-law, John Robert and Jean Register all of Echols County, 18-grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sesh Register; son, Maxie Franklin Register; daughter and son in law, Betty and Roy Waldron; son in law, William Sims, three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Bethel Church of God with Rev. Daryl Pate, Rev. Ralph Dillard and Rev. Phillip Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Statenville Cemetery. Mrs. Register will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
