Constance (Connie) K. Christie

Constance "Connie" K. Christie, 87, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born December 28, 1924 in Arlington, GA, the daughter of the late E.H. and Bobbie Lumley Kinsler. She graduated from Valdosta State College for Women and taught Biology at Griffin High School, where she was also the Cheerleading Coach. In 1964, following her marriage to Wesley Renijah Christie, the couple and their family made their home in Valdosta.

Mrs. Christie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, U.D.C. and was a Board Member of the Valdosta Wildcat Touchdown Club. She enjoyed playing Bridge and loved shopping.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley R. and Carolyn Christie of Cumming, GA, and Ricky R. and Joy Christie of Washington, DC; two granddaughters, Katrell Christie of Atlanta, GA, and Kathleen Renee Christie of Washington, DC; her adopted family, Don, Mary and John Allen; special caregiver and friend, Dorothy Carter; caregiver, Frances Burgess; and faithful friend, Peggy Fondren, all of Valdosta. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Renijah Christie, USMC Lt. Col. (Ret.).

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Christie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Dr. Bob Moon officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Funeral Service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
