Colleen Keating Matthews, 74, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on August 21, 1947, in Sacramento, CA to the late Jerome and Clare Keating. Colleen enjoyed reading, traveling, and volunteering at church. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was very active in the Council of Catholic Women. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Colleen is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Kevin Hiers, of Hahira, Karen and Brandon Weidner, of Longwood, FL; and son and daughter-in-law, David and Nicole Matthews, of Brooklyn, NY; her grandchildren, Katherine Hiers, Caroline Hiers, and Audrey Hiers, all of Hahira; sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and Steve Conti, of Galt, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jenny Keating, of Sydney, Australia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Friday, April 22, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Brian LaBurt officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the funeral at 10am followed by a decade of the rosary before mass begins.
