Clyde J. Roberson

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Clyde J. Roberson, loving husband, and father of 3 children passed away at the age of 83. Clyde was born on May 18, 1938, in Valdosta, to Oliver Jackson Roberson and Adrian Lorraine NeSmith Roberson. He graduated from Valdosta High School and continued to be a lifelong Wildcat fan. Clyde graduated from Armstrong Atlantic University and worked in retail management for 43 years with the Firestone Company. On September 16, 1957, Clyde married his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Rykard and together have shared 62 years. Clyde and Jeanette raised 2 sons, Christopher C. and A. Kevin and one daughter, Cynthia Jean. After retirement and returning to Valdosta, Clyde enjoyed travel and friendships with members of Park Avenue Methodist Church.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, O.J. Roberson, Sr., Adrian L. Roberson and his son Christopher C. Roberson. Clyde is also preceded by his brothers Oliver Jackson Roberson, Jr., Edgar Roberson, Melvin Roberson, and one sister Martha Morrow. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Roberson, daughter, Cynthia J. Phillips (Larry), son, A. Kevin Roberson (Charlotte). Clyde is also survived by 4 grandchildren, J. Colson Phillips (Sarah Hannah), Evan S. Phillips, Caroline Pierre and Andrew K. Roberson, and one great-granddaughter, Miriam Claire Phillips. He is also survived by 4 brothers, Pete Roberson (Wilma), Donald Roberson (Lawana), Fred Roberson (Donna Decker), Cecil T. Roberson (Susan), and one sister, Betty L. Anderson and many nephews and nieces.
The family welcomes friends for visitation at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel, 2215 N. Patterson Street, on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 5-7p.m. A graveside service, officiated by Associate Pastor, Jamie Bone, will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
