Clifford Benard Hoover, 75, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 15, 1937 in Holden, Louisiana to the late Gates and Mary McDonald Hoover. He was retired from the United States Army serving with the Special Forces group and served three tours in Viet Nam. He was the retired owner/operator of Valdosta Printing and Quik Copy. He was very involved with the local senior center and organized many of the pool ornaments becoming known as "The Dragon." Mr. Hoover was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Cathy Hoover of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Matt Hunt and Jill and Ben Powell all of Atlanta; a son, Bill Hoover of Valdosta; grandchildren, Evan Powell and Ella Hunt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia Hoover of Valdosta, Douglas and Jeannie Hoover of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Gates and Julie Hoover of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael James Hoover.
Services for Cliff Hoover will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2012 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3501 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, GA 31605 with Dr. Richard C. Hart officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cliff Hoover may be made to the Valdosta Senior Citizen Community Center, 1360 E. Park Ave. Valdosta, Georgia 31602.
