Clifford A. Dorminey, 81, of Valdosta died on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at his son's residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 20, 1928 in Lowndes County to the late Robert Fred and Minnie Ola Boone Dorminey and has been a lifelong resident. He was a retired mechanic with Western Auto after 28 years of service and he was a member of the Azalea City Church of God.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry D. and Charlene Dorminey of Valdosta, Hershel L. Dorminey of Greenville, South Carolina; two daughters and a son-in-law, Minnie Lou "Jackie" Butler of St. Louis, Missouri, Sharon Denise and Richard Hughes of Valdosta; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert L. Dorminey of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mitchell Dorminey.
Services for Mr. Dorminey will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Gabbard and Rev. Bobby Frier officiating. The burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
