Clementine George Haltiwanger

Clementine George Haltiwanger, 87, of Valdosta died on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Heritage House Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born on January 22, 1926 to the late Carlo and Sadie Mansour George and has lived here all her life. Clemmy, as she was known to all, enjoyed several clubs over the years, as well as gardening, fishing, playing bridge and poker with family and friends. She had a beautiful, welcoming smile and she soothed many souls with her kind and gentle words and her presence made life easier for everyone around her. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

In 1950, Clemmy married the late Gerald Edgar Haltiwanger of Chapin, South Carolina and together they had three children. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Emily Haltiwanger of El Paso, Texas, and Randall Haltiwanger and Amy Terrell of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Patrick Newton of St. Simons Island; six beautiful grandchildren: Nuria, Jeremy, Jonathan, Jenna, Alexandra and Haley; one great-grandchild, Brenden. She is also survived by her three beautiful sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie Beam, Gloria and Paul Neuda and Barbara and Carl Shapiro all of Valdosta; two very close first cousins, Leona Abood of Valdosta and Sister Angela Abood of Atlanta; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Clemmy Haltiwanger will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at St. John's Catholic Church Parish Hall.
