CLAY A. SMITH, 70, of Lake Park died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1936 in Ten Mile, Tennessee to the late Charlie Mack and Rennie Bell Lynns Smith and had lived in Lowndes County since 1966. Mr. Smith was known as the “Tile Man” and owned and operated Clay Smith Tile Company for many years. He was a member of the Hahira Church of God and enjoyed golfing and NASCAR Racing.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Smith of Lake Park, five sons and three daughters in law, Tony Smith of Adel, Randy Smith of Coolidge, Keith and Stacy Smith of Atlanta, David and Nancy Smith of Boston, Darryl and Patti Smith of Valdosta, two daughters, Tracy Taylor of Hahira and Vivian Smith of Thomasville, 11-grandchildren, 1-great grandchild, three brothers, Gene Smith of Stuart, Fla., Charles Smith of North Carolina and Ray Smith of St. Marks, Fla., one sister, Carolyn Woody of South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 4, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Franklin McDaniel and Rev. Leonard C. Harnage officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday form 6-8pm at the funeral home.
