Claude Alvin Porter Sr., 94, of Lake Park, GA passed away at the Crestwood Nursing Home on Wednesday, October, 8, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Lake Park, GA on May 12, 1920 to the late John Lawrence and Julia Swilley Porter. Mr. Porter served in the United States Army during World War Two and returned to Lake Park after to become a farm mechanic and to raise his family.
Mr. Porter is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law; Claude Alvin Jr. and Carolyn Porter of Jacksonville, FL, Johnny L. and Katherine Porter of Lake Park, GA, George and Iva Porter of Lake Park, GA, Harry and Connie Porter of Lakeland, FL, Raymond and Angie Porter of Lake Park, GA, Hazel and Andrew Pazgan of Hermitage, PA; fifteen grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his wife Wilda Inell Porter, one son, Gene Porter, and two brothers, Felton Thomas Porter and M.G. Porter.
Funeral Services for Claude Alvin Porter Sr. will be held 11 am on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park, GA.
