Lavern Burnette, 77, of Valdosta, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on April 21, 1934 in Ambrose, GA to Clarence Wesley Herring and Nancy L. Jones Herring. Mrs. Burnette was a retired seamstress and a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Gary Burnette and Okyon Young of Valdosta, two daughters and one son in law, Suzanne and Steven Pagola of Valdosta and Fay Dixon of Sebastian, FL, one step son and step daughter in law, Huey and Missy Burnette of Oklahoma, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, her mother, Nancy L. Vance of Valdosta, four sisters, Latrelle Smith of Valdosta, Geneva Hammock of Homeland, GA, Shirley Palmer of Tavares, FL and Nancy Jones of Valdosta, two brothers, Curtis Mitchell Harrell of Valdosta and Clarence Wesley Herring of Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Burnette was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Burnette on October 17, 2006.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at eleven a. m. at the United Pentecostal Church, 3909 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, GA with Pastor William Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Burnette will be placed in the church at ten a. m. The family will receive friends from two until four p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
