Clarence Lloyd Luke
Little did we know on March 10, 1941, our hero would be born to the late Clarence Claude Luke and Betty Joyce Swann. He finished his earthly mission and entered eternity on November 18, 2021.
Clarence Lloyd Luke served in the Army National Guard early in his life. Various employments such as a painter and barber provided for his young, ever-growing family. Lloyd went to work at Owens Illinois/PCA and retired from there after working for approximately 40 years. Respect from his colleagues and supervisors alike came naturally because of the quality of work he produced as well as how he treated his fellow man. After retiring, he enjoyed cruising and traveling with his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria Luke. He was an avid Lowndes Viking fan. If they were not at the game, they were listening on the radio.
He was a member of Corinth Baptist church and loved His Lord. He truly had a servant’s heart that was always on display by his character, demeanor, and actions. His actions were driven by love. He was strong in character and his faith.
Recognized as a soft-spoken man who needed few words because he lived his life at full volume. Lloyd was ambitious and could fix or build anything. It was an amazing gift he had. He was intuitive and could recognize what needed to be done and do it for that very reason. There was no procrastination, no idleness, just doing. He had an eye for seeing things and wanting to make them even better.
Lloyd was a rock and solid foundation for his children leaving it hard to imagine life without him. However, as he stood strong in this life so will his family. The qualities his family attribute to him the most are patience, kindness, strength, hard worker, dependable, consistent, artistic, storyteller, singer, dedicated, humble, role model, trustworthy, ingenious, inventive, creative, and always selfless. He is leaving us with a strong sense of family and the challenge to be the best we can be for our Savior, our family and others.
Our hero has lived his life well. Honor and respect are the lenses we view him from. Quiet tenderness is his armor. Sacrifice was worn like a badge of honor. He laid down his life daily like a southern gentleman lays down his outer coat for a lady to step on. His legacy is so strong that it is literally woven into the fabric of his children and grandchildren. What a life well lived!!!
