Clarence E. Strickland

November 23, 1924 — June 5, 2013

Clarence E. Strickland of Valdosta went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from his residence. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and helpmate, Nomie M. Strickland.

Survivors are his son Roy (Joyce) of Evans, GA., his granddaughter Regina Walker (Todd), and two great-granddaughters Jessica Walker and Reagan Walker also of Evans, GA. His brother Ralph Strickland (Mary) of Thomasville, GA., brothers-in-law C.W. Willis of Pavo, GA., and Harry Houghton of Rex, GA., sisters-in-law Nell Crosby, Jajuan Croft, Kathlean Strickland all of Valdosta, GA., Merle Seago of Madison, GA.,
Winifred Houghton of Rex, GA., and Mary Strickland of Thomasville, GA. And also many nieces and nephews. A special "thank you" to Nephew Nelton Crosby for being so helpful in those final days.

Also preceded in death by his parents Bryant and Mary Strickland, brothers Myra Strickland, Robert Strickland, Thomas Strickland, Wylie Strickland and L.Z. Strickland, and sisters Edna Boyette, Mary Hilda Tabor and Annie Laura Folsom.

Mr. Strickland retired from Owens-Illinois Paper Corp. in 1985 after 31 years of service. He loved fishing but more than anything he just loved to fix something that had broken. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, earning two Bronze
Stars for Valor. He was born in Decatur County, but lived in Brooks County in his early years, and then moved to Valdosta where he worked for Sweat Radiator Shop, Lockerman's Machine Shop, Jimmy Miller construction and started
with O-I in 1954.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 12:00 noon, in the Chapel of Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, North 41, Valdosta, GA. Reverend Charlie Scarborough will be officiating and entombment will be in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Grace Hospice, LLC, 101 Northside Dr., Valdosta, GA. in remembrance of the loving care given to his loving wife in her final days. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com
