Clarence Claude (C.C.) Luke, 87, of Valdosta died on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Heritage House Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Nashville, Georgia to the late Walter and Ellie Nash Luke on September 9, 1921. He was retired from O & I as a maintenance technician and was a member of Charity Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon. Mr. Luke was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Luke of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Gloria Luke, Colin and Diane Luke, J.W. and Sue Luke, James and Diann Luke; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Alton Brooks; son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Diane Luke all of Valdosta; daughters and son-in-law, Claudia and John Golden of Hahira, Joyce and Jim Blanton of Macon; step-sons, Seabron (Ruth) Craven of Valdosta and Carroll (Judy) Craven of Nashville; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Hulon and Wanda Luke of Valdosta; sisters, Myrtice Ivey of Atlanta and Bernice Clingan of Hamilton, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Luke was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Luke and his son Calvin Luke. Also, a great-grandson, Justin Vickers Luke; three brothers, George Murel Luke, W.B. Luke and Franklin Luke; three sisters, Marie Dampier, Melba Chason, and Mildred Blanton.
Services for Clarence Claude (C.C.) Luke will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke and Rev. Lee Graham officiating. The burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
