Clare Barrineau

December 27, 1930 — September 3, 2006

Clare Lois Barrineau, 75, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Holly Hill Nursing Home. Born on December 27, 1930, in Doerun, she was the daughter of the late Marcellous “Pat” and Lois Tittle Dismuke. Clare grew up in Nashville and married William Clinton Barrineau in 1952. They had made their home in Valdosta since 1960. She was member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church and the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Barrineau was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was an avid gardener, and loved to work in her yard.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Clint of 53 years, she is survived by her daughter and son in law, Carolyn (Dee Dee) and William L. Girardin of Lake Park; a son, Byron Britt Barrineau of Carrollton, and five grandchildren, Michael Wayne Cargile, Eidson Thomas Cargile of Lake Park, Melissa Sheets Worton of Covington, Katie Girardin (Donald) Altman of Valdosta and Lea Anna Girardin (Johnny) Goodwin of Cummings. Also surviving are four great grandchildren; sister in law, Vivian (L. O. “Buddy”) Gaskins of Tifton, brothers in law, Harry (Martha) Barrineau and Everett Barrineau of Tifton; sister in law, Ann (Robert) Chapman of Ludowici; three cousins, Sybil Tittle of Lady Lakes, Florida, Lorraine Edge of Columbus, William Guy Clyatt of Valdosta; two nieces, Marcia Gaskins, of Valdosta, and Tammy (Bobby) Jones of Brookfield; and two nephews, Phil Barrineau, and Mark Gaskins of St. Augustine, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2006 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Craig Rikard and Reverend V. L. Daughtery will officiate. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Nashville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Park Avenue United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
