Cindy Banks-Odai, 55, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 1, 2012, after a long illness, at South Georgia Medical Center.
She was born January 21, 1957 in Great Falls, Montana, a daughter of Joe Henry and Gail Merlene Powell Banks. Cindy was a graduate of Lowndes High School and Valdosta State University Drama Department. She had worked in theatre in New York and California, later working as a mortgage broker in California, Maryland and New Jersey. Cindy was of the Methodist faith and loved to travel.
She is survived by two daughters, Caitlin Odai and Erin Odai, both of Valdosta; one granddaughter, Lily Odai; and another granddaughter on the way; a step-son, Christopher Odai of Tucson, AZ; her parents, Joe and Gail Banks of Lake Park; four sisters, Polly Ruehl and husband John of Tucson, AZ, Jill Banks of Valdosta, Wendy Carter and husband Brad of Lake Park, and Sally Richman and husband David of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon Odai.
