Christopher T. “Chris” Williams, age 56, of Lake Park. Died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Gainesville, FL. Chris was born in Monticello FL on December 26, 1961 to Minnie Pearl Wiggins and the late James David Williams and moved to Valdosta when he was 16. He graduated from Lowndes High School in 1981. After high school, Chris worked briefly at Barnes Drug Store and for several years with Paul Parrish at Parrish Monument Company. In 1990, he began a career in law enforcement with the Echols County Sherriff’s Office. He attended the Georgia Police Academy in 1993 and started work with the Lowndes County Sherriff’s Office in November of 1993. Chris has worked there for nearly 25 years now. Being outdoors is a favorite pastime of Chris, especially hunting and fishing. A Mason and a Shriner, he is a member of the Azalea City Masonic Lodge and he is also a big fan of Dirt Track racing. Chris is a member of Jerusalem Freewill Baptist Church in Moultrie. Chris will be greatly missed by his family, especially Crystal who says, “Chris is my World, my Love and my Everything. I love you and miss you.”
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Williams, of Lake Park; his son and daughter in law, Joseph & Heather Pettus of Remerton, daughter and son in law, Courtnee & Steve Macias of Savannah; grandchildren, Alexis Juarez, Zakry Juarez, Hunter Pettus, and Kynleigh Pettus. He also survived by his adopted mother, Geraldine Williams of Moultrie, his mother in law, Josephine Sudderth of Valdosta, and three sisters and a brother; special cousins Ray & Nancy Lowry, Dan & Marilyn Brock, a special aunt, Dot Brock and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Sandra Macias and Xaden Macias, his step father, Russell P. Wiggins, his brother Jessie James Williams and step father in law, Grady Sudderth.
The funeral for Deputy Williams will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Waird and Pastor Mike Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
