Christopher Paul Stephens, 30, of Valdosta, died suddenly on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born on March 23, 1979 in Panama City, FL. He was a construction worker and worked for Southeast Environmental Contracting. Christopher was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Virginia and Bobby Fletcher of Valdosta; father and stepmother, Randy and Kathy Stephens of Deridder, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Terry Ray of Ray City; brother, Patrick Fletcher of Valdosta; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Carter of Valdosta; paternal grandmother Mary Stephens of Valdosta, step-grandmother, Sara Fletcher of Valdosta; nephews, Lawson Ray and Carter Ray, both of Ray City; uncles and aunts, Paul and Linda Epp of Valdosta, Robert and Betty Croft of New Market, VA, LeVan Carter of Valdosta, Mike and Lisa Stephens of Valdosta, Ralph and Debbie Fournier of Canyon Country, CA. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Henry Carter and Jack Stephens; step-grandfather, Freeman Fletcher, and an uncle, Henry Carter, Jr.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. David Paulk officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
