Chester Leroy (Jack) Bailey

Chester Leroy (Jack) Bailey, 86, of Hahira, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at his residence. He was born on July 3, 1920 in Cook County, GA to the late Frank Lee and Pearlie Mae Morgan Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a retired farmer and a United States Navy Veteran during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Ophelia Raines Bailey of Hahira, four sons and three daughters in law, Charles Bailey of Lizella, GA, Danny and Rita Bailey, John and Collette Bailey of Hahira, Rickey and Brenda Bailey of Adel, three daughters and one son in law, Jeanette Cook of Hahira, Judy Bailey of Valdosta, Gail and Patrick Nichols of Hahira, eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and is preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Franks.

Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be held Friday, July 14, 2006 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Leonard Harnage and Reverend Roscoe Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkes Community Cemetery in Cook County. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
