Chester (Chet) Bunte

Chester (Chet) Bunte, 73 of Valdosta, died on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at his residence suddenly after a period of declining health. Born on October 6, 1933 in Quincy, Illinois, he was the son of the late Elvin Chester and Maxine Jessie West Bunte. He retired from the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bunte had been employed with Godfrey Motors since 1994 and had an interest in restoring cars. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors are his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Carol Bunte of Kilgore, TX; sister-in-law, Lila Bunte of Hahira; nieces, Rhonda Bunte of Florida, Stephanie Bunte of Kilgore, TX, Lisa Bunte of Hahira; nephews, Leslie Bunte of Hahira, Lester Bunte of Valdosta, Loren Bunte of Hahira and several cousins and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by brothers Ronald K. Bunte and Larry D. Bunte.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2007 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend John Akers officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1292, Albany, GA 31702.
