Charlie Randall Jones, Sr., 71, of Valdosta, died in the arms of his loving wife at South Georgia Medical Center on Friday, March 18, 2011, after a lengthy illness. Born in Doerun on October 12, 1939, he was the son of the late George H. and Ethel Faulk Jones. Mr. Jones was a retired motel manager, a teacher at Valdosta High School and a teacher and guidance counselor at Echols County. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a Lions Club member and he was a Mason. He loved his friends at First Baptist and his Sunday School class.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Juanita Jones of Valdosta; sons, Randall Jones of Valdosta, Ronald Jones of Panama City, Florida; granddaughters, Brittany Jones and Tara Jones of Valdosta; sisters and brothers, Eathel Hoff of Maryland, Thom Jones of Texas, Ellen Albrecht of North Carolina, George (Judi) Jones of Ft. Gaines, Clara (Jesse) Haire of Doerun; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at 2:oo p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Phil West and Reverend Mac Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday for one hour before service time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church Food Bank or to the Gideons.
