CHARLES WALTER KELLY, 76, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at this home.
He was born in Valdosta on August 9, 1933, a son of Walter Bryant Kelly and Mary Jane Speer Kelly. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and had been employed at ITT Thompson Metal Products Division for 32 years, prior to working at Bayliner Marine Inc. for 10 years.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Mr. Kelly was a great family man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing, and loved to watch baseball, football and boxing. He was a faithful Braves fan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Minnie Jean Kelly; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Charles Andrew Kelly and Cheryl, and Danny Melvin Kelly and Katinka; two grandchildren, Kyle Austin Kelly and Krystal Brooke Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Austin, and Colby; one brother, Howard William Kelly; two nieces, Sheary Ann and Rhonda; and two nephews, Shane and Matthew, all of Valdosta. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Calvin Eugene Kelly.
Funeral Services for Mr. Kelly will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Nate Lehman and Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Kelly�s family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
