Charles W. Johnson, 83, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on July 7, 1927 in Tifton to the late Oliver and Hattie Barnes Johnson. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served during WWII and was retired from the security industry. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pauline Johnson of Valdosta; five sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. and Dee Johnson of Cartersville, Georgia, Curtis H. and Rosalba Johnson of Orlando, Florida, Bobby Lee and Lisa Johnson of Jesup, Georgia, Gregory A. Johnson and Steve Johnson both of Valdosta; ten grandchildren, Bret, Tracy, Allison, Liliana, Sean, Gina, Allen, Erin, Paul, and Laura; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamie Summerlin of Moultrie, Georgia. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and a daughter-in-law, Becky Johnson.

Services for Charles W. Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Wisehart and Rev. Gene Wisehart officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
