Charles W. Adams

Charles W. Adams, 87, of Ousley died on Wednesday, December 08, 2004 in Brooks County. Born on June 15, 1917 in Sulphur Springs, Ohio, he was the son of the late Homer Shelton and Lillie Georgia Wildgrube Adams. Mr. Adams was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army. He and his children and grandchildren have combined to serve in all five branches of military service. He had been a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and wrote a book about cemeteries in Lowndes County. Mr. Adams was a member of Ousley Baptist Church and formerly First Baptist Church. He was a deacon, a Sunday School teacher and bible class teacher for over 50 years in these churches.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Jane Sims Adams of Ousley; children and their spouses, Ronnie & Maerita Adams of Ousley, Tom & Rita Adams of Dawsonville, Susan & Tim Harrelson of Jacksonville, FL, Steven & Cathy Adams of Beaverton, OR; grandchildren, Chuck Adams of Clearwater, FL, John Adams (Jill) of Decatur, Jeffrey Sanda (Sherrie) of Macedonia, OH, Shari Black of Jacksonville, FL, Fara Adams Futch (Dan)of Moore, OK., and Michael Adams of Beaverton, OR; four great grandsons and a great granddaughter. Also surviving is a sister, Barbra A. Hudgins of Brunswick; and Robin Hudgins of Macon, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Dillard Ensley and Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
