Charles Stuart Cutshaw passed from this earth on May 4, 2020 while serving his country in the United States Navy.
Charles is survived by his parents; Dale and Stephanie Cutshaw of Hahira, GA, a brother and sister -in-law William and Lauren Cutshaw of Nashville, GA, nephews Maddox and Thomas and niece Madeline all of Nashville, GA. He is also survived by godparents Don Williams and Tina Vickers, and "MeMa" Jean Retterbush Deas. Charles was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Cutshaw, a Korean and Vietnam veteran, and Barbara Cutshaw of Valdosta, GA, and maternal grandfather Robert Cogle of Marion Junction, AL, and Papa William Retterbush of Valdosta, GA.
Charles was a graduate of Lowndes High School Class of 2014. He entered the United States Navy in September 2019 and was currently stationed in Lemoore, California. Charles grew up in Lowndes County where he was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 440 of Hahira, GA. He was of Christian faith and a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA. Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed all things outdoors. As one of Charles' friends said; "Charlie Brown could always make me laugh, and make the best stuff out of sticks and duct tape."
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2020 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia.
