Charles Michael (Mike) Modlin, 63, of Valdosta, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1948 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Charles Wesley Modlin and Marjorie Jane Foster Modlin. Mike was retired from the United States Postal Service, served in the United States Air Force, was a member of CrossPointe Church and was an avid train enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Modlin of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Michelle and Wade Boutwell of Hahira, Megan and Brian Bennefield of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Shelby Joan Boutwell, Rhys Bennefield and Wesley Boutwell, one brother and sister in law, Sherrill and Gail Modlin of Severna Park, Maryland, his step mother, Helga June Modlin of Anderson, Indiana, mother in law, Sara Young Lucas of Flowery Branch, GA, three sisters in law and brothers in law, Phyllis and Tom Livsey of Gainesville, FL, Connie and Joe Davis of Jennings, FL and Nancy and John Baisley of Flowery Branch, GA, nieces and nephews, Jenny and Vern Murray, Julie Modlin and her husband, John Webb, Patrick and Claudine Modlin, Phillip and Rebecca O'Brien, Aaron and Joni O'Brien, Clay Davis, Sara and James York, Johnny and Aundrea Baisley, Matthew and Mimi Baisley and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend David Rogers and Mr. Charlie Crews officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
