Charles Joseph (Jody) Copeland

Charles Joseph "Jody" Copeland, age 65 of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on November 14, 2013 at Langdale Hospice House follow a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Copeland was born in Lowndes County to the late John William and Sarah Nona Wisenbaker Copeland, on June 10, 1948. He was employed by TSG and member of Central Avenue Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Vann Copeland, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jodie "JoJo" Copeland Spooner (Bo), Sylvester; Jennifer Copeland Malone (Matt), Valdosta; six sisters and three brothers, Bettye Griner, Valdosta; Eva Nell Shiver, Valdosta; Sandra Seckinger (Deryl), Naylor; Wanda Spray (Charlie), Valdosta; Sharon Banks (Nick), Jacksonville, FL; Donna Bennett (Hardy), Valdosta; Raymond Copeland (Linda), Valdosta; Johnny Copeland ( Bee Bee), Lake Park; John "Bubba" Copeland (Teresa), Valdosta; one sister-in-law, Gail Copeland, Knoxville, TN, four grandchildren, Emily Spooner, Jacob Spooner, Karli Malone and Kherington Malone, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Copeland; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Warren Powers; brother-in-law, Arly Griner; a niece, Dee Dee Mills; and a nephew, Rodney Copeland.

Funeral services for Mr. Copeland will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Mr. John Klimko Jr., and Mr. Bryan Jarvis officiating. There will be a private family burial at Carter Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening during the hours of 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
