CHARLES JAMES GEORGE, JR., 67, of Lake Park, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on November 18, 1941 in Lowndes County, the son of the late C.J. George, Sr. and Ollie Carter George.
Charles was a lifelong farmer and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Antioch Community Church, Woodmen of the World, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Jamie George and wife Mary Ann of Echols Co., and Chris George of Lowndes Co.; four grandchildren, Colby and Baileigh George and Logan and Macalyn George; the mother of his sons, Barbara George Pollock of Lowndes Co.; two sisters, Jeanette and husband Bro. Royce McCurdy of Lowndes Co., and Bobbi Jane and husband John DiFonzo of Thousand Oaks, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Clara Jean George.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Corbett and Bro. Royce McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery.
