CHARLES H HARPER, 72, of Quitman died Monday, May 30, 2005 at the Brooks County Hospital. He was born on January 12, 1933 in Odum, Georgia to the late Barry and Cathern Davis Harper and had lived in Brooks County for thirty two years. Mr. Harper was an industrial manager with American Cynamid and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Quitman.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Lott Harper of Quitman, two daughters and a son in law, Sabrina Harper Acevedo of Quitman, Ivy and Dave McGovern of Quitman, one son and daughter in law, Monty Charles and Sylvie Harper of Ft. Valley, three grandchildren, Dante Acevedo, Julien Harper and Mico Devon McGovern, four sisters and two brothers in law, Inez and Don Eads of Perry, Fla., Grace Cauley of Ogden, Utah, Vera Mae and H. L. Pharr of Atlanta, Oletha and Bobby Stone of Douglas, two brothers and a sister in law, Louis and Ruby Harper, James Harper all of Douglas, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Quitman with Rev. Mike Broadwater officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Thursday at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
