Charles Ellis Yale, 82, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Lakeland Villas Convalescent Center in Lakeland, Georgia. He was born in Valdosta on May 1, 1929 and had lived in Valdosta most of his life. Mr. Yale was a retired hearing aid salesman formerly with Barnes Drug Store and Yale Services. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a longtime member of the Gonwood Church of Christ.
Mr. Yale was an avid fan of the Valdosta High School Wildcat Football, longtime member of the Valdosta High School Touchdown Club and had previously served on the Board of Directors of the club. He also worked as Santa Claus for many clubs and private events. Mr. Yale was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troup 415 for Park Avenue United Methodist Church of which his grandsons, Patrick and Seanesee Richardson are members and daughter, Kim Richardson is an Assistant Scout Master.
Mr. Yale was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Florence Sybilla Yale and his parents Arthur Talley Yale, Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Simpson Yale Woodruff and two brothers, Richard Yale and Robert Yale.
Survivors include three daughters and sons in law, Sharon and Archie Mitchell of LaGrange, GA., Debbi and Tim Fotsch of Pearl River, LA., and Kim and Billy Richardson of Lakeland, GA., seven grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell Keyser and Mike Geyser of Gig Harbor, WA., Hayley Mitchell of Asheville, NC., Jessica Fotsch, Matthew Fotsch both of Pearl River, LA., Crystal Richardson of Valdosta, Patrick Richardson, Seanesee Richardson both of Lakeland, GA., great grandchildren, Lilith Celeste Brocks of Valdosta, Elizabeth Rose Keyser of Gig Harbor, WA., three brothers and two sisters in law, Arthur Yale of Tallahassee, Fla., Donald and Eugenia Yale of Valdosta, GA., Norman and Jane Yale of Dallas, GA., two sisters and a brother in law, Louise and Norman Sainz, Betty Yale all of Valdosta, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with Mr. Thomas Ruffin officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
