Charles Edwin Evans, 77, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville after a short illness. He was born in Irwin County, GA on February 23, 1941 to the late Clifford Lee and Mildred Owens Evans. His intention was to become a member of Redland Baptist Church. Charles loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his hunting dogs. Charles was a retired installer for American Glass and was a very hard worker. He was a loving husband of 55 years to his wife Jeanette Roe Evans, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Charles loved his family.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette Evans, of Valdosta, his daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Tommy Tapley, of Ocala, FL, and Shannon and Tommy Boyette, of Valdosta, his five grandchildren Amanda (Zach) Ceremelli, of Clarksville, TN, Stephanie (Jon) Rider, of Lake Park, Justin (Danette) Evans, of Valdosta, Tiffany Evans, of Valdosta, and Hunter White, of Ocala, FL, his five great grandchildren, Chandler, Gage, Aubrey, Lizzy, and JJ, and four brothers James (Pat) Evans, Billy (Linda) Evans, Jerry (Anita) Evans, Jimmy Evans, and three sisters Joyce Auer, Glenda (Lyn) Chapman, Martha (Jack) Roberts, his brother-in-law Vernon Roe (Pat), of Citra, FL, and sister-in-law Shirley Raines, of Valdosta and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, C.W. Evans, Earnest Evans, and Dewey Evans.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at three p. m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Pastor Jay Watkins who led him to the Lord. The family will receive friends from two until three p. m. Thursday at the cemetery. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
