Charles Douglas Alligood, 78, of Hahira died Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born on October 14, 1938 in Miami, FL to the late Louie Alligood and Leila Reeves Alligood. He was a retired correctional officer from Valdosta Correctional Institute and a salesman for Carroll Packing Company. Mr. Alligood served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1959 stationed in Thule, Greenland and was a member of Hahira First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Parrish Alligood of Hahira, three children, Laura Lynne Alligood Slaton-Collier(Patrick H. Collier) of Orlando, FL, Vicky Elaine Alligood Walker of Jacksonville, FL and Timothy D. Alligood (Brittany) of Nashville, GA, five grandchildren, William Armstrong Slaton IV (Sarah), Tanya Lynne Hassell, Savannah Barfield, Aaron Douglas Alligood and Anna Grace Alligood, one great granddaughter, Tiffany Elaine Walker, one brother, Kenny Miles, three sisters, Patricia Stephens, Linda Driggers and Sandy Shockley.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017 at two p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Ray Turner, Pastor of Vision Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL officiating. Burial will be at five p. m. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 1018 Salem Church Road (Highway 90) Fitzgerald, GA. The family will receive friends from five until seven p. m. Saturday at the Martin McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hahira First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 555, Hahira, GA 31632.
