Charles D. Kirkland

Charles D. Kirkland, 68, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 16, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Ft. Myers, Florida, on May 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Margarete Driggers Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors are his former wife, Tena Kirkland of Lake Park, daughters and sons in law, Debbie and Ray Childs of Clyattville, Tammy Williams of Lake Park, Diane and John DeMaranville of Valdosta; grandchildren, Andy and Chandra Childs, Tony Childs, Justin Nichols Childs, Sadie Mason, Brandi Mason, Randy and Scotty Williams, Chris Williams and Tara, Cynthia Williams and Cade, Michael DeMaranville and Crystal, Matthew and Amy DeMaranville, Crystal DeMaranville and Stacey DeMaranville; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in law, Thomas and Lou Kirkland of Ft. Myers, Florida, Sammy and Ruby Kirkland of Ft. Myers, Florida, Stanley and Bobbi Kirkland of Orlando, Florida; sisters, Barbara Kirkland of Orlando, Florida, Shirley Shoap of Ft. Myers, Florida; friends at Ashley House and special friend, Joanie. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Clegg and Peggy Kirkland and a brother, Bobby Kirkland.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Reverend Benny Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.
