Charles Carlton Conway, 78, of Valdosta, died on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 8, 1931 to the late Emmett G. and Minnie Lavinia Tucker Conway. Mr. Conway was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving for three years. While in the Corps, he was a radar technician aboard The Coral Sea, The Midway and The Franklin D. Roosevelt. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in business management. He worked for and retired from Westinghouse Electric as a project administrator. While working for Westinghouse, he was a member of Toastmasters and won many awards for his prowess at public speaking. He was the featured speaker at numerous retirement dinners and some company functions. His specialty was a gentle and witty humor which reminded many who heard him of the great humorist, Herb Shriner. He was a member of Airport Church of Christ and was a huge Alabama fan.
