Charles C. Brown

Charles C. Brown, 88, of Lake Park passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 10, 1924 in Ada, Oklahoma to John and Eva Knopp Brown. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served four and a half years in the Navy Air Force as a radioman in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. A graduate of Florida College and Harding University he was a member of the Church of Christ and active in teaching, preaching and mission work.

After retirement from the U. S. Postal Service, he enjoyed years of horseback riding, golf and travel. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Garrard and six brothers, Paul Brown, Harold Brown, Glen Brown, Hilton Brown, Scott Brown and David Brown.

Surviving are his wife of sixty five years, Anne McLeod Brown of Lake Park; his sons and their wives, Douglas and Susan Brown of Albuquerque, NM, Rodney and Beverly Brown of Tifton, Byron and Janet Brown of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Dr. David Brown and his wife, Angela of Plano, TX, Sheri Brown of Hartford, CT, Laura Keiser and husband, Scott of Destrehan, LA, Alison Colvin and husband, Scott of Arundel, ME, Nathan Brown of Hamilton, Ontario, Anna Waddell and husband, Lincoln of Woodstock, GA, Scott Brown of Valdosta; seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Brinley Brown; Abigail and Emma Keiser, Sophia Colvin and Piper Waddell; two sisters, Doris Gorsuch and husband, Bob of Polson, MT, and Naomi Burk and husband, Charles of Sequim, WA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Dasher Church of Christ with Mr. David Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service at the church. Interment will follow at Dasher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dasher Church of Christ Building Fund, 4326 Dasher Road, Valdosta, GA 31601 or to Georgia Christian School, 4359 Dasher Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.
