Charles Alvin (Chuck) Rhoades MSGT (RET) USAF, 68 of Lake Park passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his home from cancer. He was born on February 24, 1946 in Shelbyville, Illinois to the late Charles A. and Betty Long Rhoades. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1964 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Chuck was proud of the 27 ½ years he served his country. He also retired from the Department of Defense.
Chuck retired to Lake Park, Georgia where he met and married his wife, Katie. He leaves his wife and her children; daughter and son in law, Kristi and Ryan Moorman, sons and daughter in law, Tom and Angela Fields, Mike Fields; six granddaughters, Chasity, Zoey and Jadyn Fields, Marli Kate, Maggi Moorman and Elizabeth (Ella) Fields; four brothers, Don, Dennis, Kenneth and Randy and three sisters, Rose, Betty Sue and Beverly all from out of town.
The family wants to thank Hospice of South Georgia especially Tracy and Keisha for their help and support during Chuck's illness.
In keeping with his wishes Chuck will be cremated and a visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2pm followed by a memorial service with military honors to be held at 3pm at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, 3119 W. Marion Avenue, Lake Park, GA 31636. Rev. Robert Dawson, our pastor from First Baptist Church Lake Park will officiate. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P.O.
