Charlene Carroll was born on August the 9th of 1956 in Orange Park, Florida and was promoted to Big Sis a few years later to her sister Elaine. Who she proclaimed to be her very own personal baby doll which she adored. They grew up together with a strong bond to love and look after each other while being adopted by the late Ralph & Evelyn Donahue of Valdosta, Ga where they then resided.
At the very young ripe age of 19 Charlene meet Larry Dewayne Dorminey in the summer of 1975 where they then married and built a loving life together. After committing there love they welcomed their first baby girl by the name of Charlotte Lynn and built their homestead in Quail Hallow in the 1980s where they owned and operated C&D Electrical Repair and Larry Dorminey’s Wrecker Service and eventually after 11 years later welcomed their last baby girl by the name of Evelyn Renee. At this point in life the Dorminey Family was complete and over the course of many years accumulated plenty of other children as their own to which they always welcomed them all in with open arms and loved them dearly.
During the course of raising their children Charlene was employed by Lowndes County transportation and was a dedicated bus driver who most parents & children referred to her as Mrs. D for over 30 plus years. Throughout her driving history Mrs. D became very well-known and a beloved bus driver to the community for the unconditional love & caring support she strived to give each and every child that entered up the stair well of her bus. Her smiling warm welcome greeting as she opened the doors to that bus stole the hearts of every child that came aboard. She went above and beyond to secure the safety of her children and would even take some of them home if no one was there to be able to pick them up and personally deliver them herself after her route would be over.
Her kindness and compassion flowed over into the hearts of her two beloved grandchildren beginning in 2012 with Timothy Gage Fielding & continuing in 2020 with Mckinsely Annette Fielding. These precious gems that would hang around her neck knew undoubtedly that their nanny hung the moon and that she would move mountains to protect them. She was their safe haven, their comfort blanket and they were her world and reason of living.
Charlene dealt with a lot of different health issues during her lifetime such as cervical cancer, multiple surgeries, and being diagnosed with Lupus a few years back but with her enduring faith and family she persevered and pushed never to give up. Her faith was tested yet again in 2021 when she lost her late husband Larry due to an illness that left her to face the world without him after 45 years of marriage.
On August 8th of 2022 she met a compassionate, gentle loving soul who had also been living a life of grief after the loss of his wife by the name of Michael Sapp who became dedicated at keeping her smiling and loving her every second of every minute of the day. He made her lonely days disappear and worshiped the ground she walked upon. While later making her his wife in April 2023 and becoming inseparable.
Unfortunately, on the afternoon of March 13, 2025, that delightful spirit and soul that could light up any room was taken and placed back into the hands of God where she able to live healthy, care free and be united with her loved ones. Although her absent presence here on earth will linger and leave a unfillable void she is absent from the body and present with the Lord.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Michael Sapp, of Valdosta, her two daughters, Charlotte Lynn Wisenbaker, and Evelyn Renee (Justin) Fielding, both of Valdosta, her two grandchildren, Timothy Gage Fielding, and McKinsley Annette Fielding, both of Valdosta, and her sister Elaine Pittman of Nashville.
