Charlene (Char) S. Gray, 70, of Valdosta, died at her residence Monday, May 12, 2008 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Born on July 3, 1937 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Duron and Lorraine Smith. She was employed by Orson Woodall as his secretary for 7 ½ years. She was a member of the 1955 class of Valdosta High School.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Diane Cody of Hahira and Britt Cody of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Eve and Kyle Callaway of Cumming; grandchildren, Jarrad Cody of Alpharetta, Jacob Cody and his wife, Tawny of Salt Lake City, UT, Jerry Gray Thomas, Brice Mitchell Thomas, both of Cumming; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jack Sikes of Cocoa Beach, FL; aunt, Myrl Smith of Athens; nephew, Paul Sikes and niece, Dana Sikes; cousins, Linda Bagwell and Marilyn Myers, both of Atlanta. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, George (Jerry) G. Gray and a sister, Lynn D. Moss.
A service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of her very special friend, Sandra Loftin Hodges, 100 Sunnymeade Dr., Valdosta.
