Celia Gillis Morrison, 85, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Axson, Georgia on January 14, 1934 to the late James Oliver and Myrtle Lee Harrell Gillis and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Morrison was a loving homemaker, enjoyed her flowers and one of her greatest joys was being Grandmama. She served as para-professional at Parkwood Developmental Center for several years where she had a gift of working with people with special needs. Mrs. Morrison was a member of Pine Grove Community Baptist Church where she loved serving the Lord. She loved children and coordinating church nurseries. Mrs. Morrison loved music and serving the Lord with her beautiful soprano voice. She found her peace and strength in Him.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Debbie and Ronnie Noble of Griffin, GA, Sandra Webb of Valdosta and fiancée Ed Statom of Moultrie, her grandchildren, Ashley Noble of Atlanta, Jamie Noble of Griffin, Michael Webb of Vermillion, SD, Lawton (Dock) Webb of Gaithersburg, MD; her sister and brother in law, June and Jess Tanner of Douglas, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. G. (Jack) Morrison, Jr. The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff of Hospice of South Georgia and the Langdale Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Pine Grove Community Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Culpepper officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday at Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery in Axson, GA with Rev. Mike Nelligan officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 -7 pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
