Cecil Maxwell

November 3, 1932 — July 7, 2009

Cecil Maxwell, 76, of Valdosta died on July 7, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on November 3, 1932 in Cairo, he was the son of the late Jessie and Cordy Roberts Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was retired from the United States Air Force and the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and Westside Baptist Church.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 52 years, Becky Maxwell of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Mike Hancock, Terry Cowart, all of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sandra Maxwell of Opelika, AL; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Courtnie and Mike Kinneman of Hahira, Micah Hancock of Warner Robins, Zack Maxwell, Mallory Cowart, Jenna and Bretton Southerland, and Colby Cowart all of Valdosta, Sara Grace Maxwell of Opelika, AL; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Tristin Kinneman, Hannah Thompson, Abbey Kinneman, all of Hahira, Rylan Hancock of Warner Robins, Jordyn Maxwell of Valdosta; sister, Mary Van Johnson of Cairo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sube and Hazel Maxwell, Wythe and Louise Maxwell, all of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Lois May of Tallahassee, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Evelyn Maxwell of Quincy, FL.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 10, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Ernie Jones and Rev. Ricky Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
