Cecil M. Pitts, 88, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Wilcox County, GA on October 15, 1916 to the late Andy H. and Clifford Story Pitts. Mr. Pitts was a retired district manager for Winn Dixie, was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, was treasurer of the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class, was a member of the Rotary Club, former president of the Whitewater Fishing and Hunting Club and a member of the Norwood Coffee Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Little Pitts of Valdosta, one daughter, Barbara Baudo of Marietta, one granddaughter, Nicole Shuey of Acworth, two great grandsons, Blake and Tyler Shuey of Acworth, three sisters in law, Voncile Green of Moultrie, Helen Southwell of Palatka, FL and Miriam Pitts of Deland, FL, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2005 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Phil West and Reverend Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
