Cecil Lamonte "Monty" Miller Ii

Cecil Lamonte “Monty” Miller II of Valdosta died on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Fellowship Home in Brooks County. Born on August 29, 1945, Monty married the late Marilyn Ellis Miller in upstate New York in 1967. The Millers, who both earned their BA degrees from Syracuse University, were married for 55 years prior to her death on February 15, 2022. Monty, who received an MBA from the College of William and Mary in 1972 and who was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, moved to Valdosta with his wife following her retirement as the Library Director of South Georgia State College. They were members of Christ Episcopal Church and supporters of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, the Turner Center, and other community groups.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Christ Episcopal Church. The Reverend Walter Hobgood will officiate. Interment will follow in the Christ Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra at 1500 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31698 or to Christ Episcopal Church at 1521 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
