Cecil Jarrard, 78, of Statenville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his home, after a short illness.
He was born on September 27, 1932 in Suches, a son of the late Homer and Tennie Lou Shope Jarrard. Mr. Jarrard was a Deacon at Statenville Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. For many years he was self-employed as a logger. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Frances Maine Jarrard, he is survived by five daughters and four son-in-laws, Patsy (Wayne) Lane of Quitman, Barbara Brown of Valdosta, Cecilia (Harry) Bowdren of Valdosta, Selena (Jim) Moore of Dawsonville, and Sharon (Charlie) Borg of Acworth; one son, Chris Jarrard of Columbus, OH; eight grandchildren, Chris Lane of Quitman, Casey (Stephanie) Lane of Valdosta, Derek Hunter of Dawsonville, Philip (Kathy) Brown of Bogart, Bridget (Jason) Kotterman of Lakeland, Heather Carter of Acworth, Brittney Borg of Acworth, and Trey Moore of Dawsonville; six great-grandchildren, Morgan and Braxton Lane, Blake and Katelyn Kotterman, and Allie and Joe Hunter; a special niece, Lisa Jarrard of Statenville; a special nephew, John Jarrard of Statenville; brother, Homer Jarrard of FL; three sisters, Betty Ann (Gary) Brotherton of NC, Johnnie Sue Head of Norcross, and Nancy (Jerry) Woods of Suches; two brothers, Bobby (Sis) Jarrard of Hiawassee, and Tommy (Shirley) Jarrard of Hiawassee; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Jean Davis of Mayday, Eloise (Frank) Helton of Mayday, Gail (Dee Dee) Fussel of Valdosta, Edward Maine of Valdosta, Bobby Maine of Valdosta, Sandy (Frank) Riefel of Dallas, Bonnie (Bud) Lowery of Dallas, Janet (Allen) McDowel of Dallas, and Margie (Bucky) Davis of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Preston Jarrard, and a sister Dora Lee Dial.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jarrard will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Statenville Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Finfrock officiating. Interment will follow at Statenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, Lake Park.
